A step back in history: Reims, the city of the coronations...
Just 20 minutes from the campsite, you can’t miss a stopover in Reims, home to many historic gems. Don’t miss the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral (you’ve probably already seen a photo of it, it’s really it!), where the kings of France were crowned and a true Gothic masterpiece. Architecture buffs will be delighted. Then take a behind-the-scenes look at the coronations and stop off at the Palais du Tau (once the residence of the archbishops), which houses the treasures of the coronations and a replica of Charlemagne’s crown (if you’ve ever dreamed of feeling like a monarch, now’s the time!). Then take a stroll through the narrow streets of the city centre, where you’ll discover its pretty, bustling squares, fascinating museums and, of course, a tasting stop for a glass of champagne: the sparkling gold of the region! For even more culture, the Musée de la Reddition du 7 mai 1945 (Museum of the Surrender of 7 May 1945) offers an immersion in history in rooms that have remained unchanged. And yes, it was in Reims that Germany signed the end of the Second World War in Europe! Last but not least, take a break in the countryside to recharge your batteries in the Parc de la Patte d’Oie, a haven of peace right in the heart of the city.

Épernay & Châlons-en-Champagne: two sparkling gems to explore!
If you want to combine a break in the countryside with a fun-filled visit, we suggest you stop off in these two remarkable villages! With their prestigious wine cellars, bucolic walks and unsuspected heritage, these two towns are definitely worth a visit. Don’t forget your walking shoes and get your taste buds ready: we’ll be taking you on a tour of these marvellous Champagne villages, just a thirty-minute drive away! Welcome to Epernay: the capital of bubbles, starting with the Avenue de Champagne: an epicurean’s paradise. There are no fewer than 110km of cellars (200 million bottles, yes, yes…) with names that are sure to ring a bell: Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger are all here. So get ready to taste (in moderation, always) and carefully select the beverages you’ll be bringing out for festive days and convivial aperitifs! If you’re looking for a thrill, take a trip in a hot-air balloon and admire the panoramic view over the vineyards!Head for Châlons-en-Champagne: the Venice of Champagne (with fewer gondolas, but more wine cellars!) offering a charming river circuit in the heart of the city for a gentle stroll. Also worth a visit: the collegiate church of Notre-Dame-en-Vaux and its UNESCO-listed carillonade.

An adventure for the eyes and the taste buds: Welcome to the Champagne vineyards!
La Montagne de Reims campsite is ideally situated for meeting the passionate winegrowers of… The Montagne de Reims (Regional Nature Park)! Yes, you’ve heard of a mountain in the heart of the Marne? There’s no downhill skiing here, just vines as far as the eye can see, their palette of colours changing with the seasons. Visit the cellars and taste the exceptional bubbles of this unique ancestral brew called Champagne (always in moderation). You can also enjoy magnificent views over the vineyards for a real nature break. For a unique experience, we advise you to take the Champagne Tourist Route and let yourself be guided by the flavours of the land…

Nature hikes and walks in the open air: discover winegrowing Champagne and much more!
If you’re a keen walker, hiker or rambler, you’ve come to the right place! In the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park, with its mysterious forests, endless vineyards, picturesque villages and monuments such as Hautvillers and the Abbey of Dom Pérignon, where you can stop off for a break, every path has its surprises in store. Discover a rich geology on your walks. Surprising as it may seem, fossils and shells have been here before us, and can be seen at La Cave aux Coquillages (Fleury-la-Rivière), a great idea for a family outing. GR trails are also available in the heart of the mountains, on foot or by bike, for a complete change of scenery!

Le Phare de Verzenay: a lighthouse in the middle of the vineyards...
You weren’t dreaming: a lighthouse without a sea in the middle of the vineyards! Built in 1909 by Joseph Goulet, this lighthouse has never guided boats. Its purpose? To advertise a brand of champagne! It was also used as an observation tower during the Second World War. Today, there are no more giant advertisements, but a fascinating museum devoted to Champagne and the vineyards. Once you’ve climbed the hundred or so steps, there’s a great viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the Reims mountains. A tasting room at the end of the guided tour invites you to discover the most prestigious vintages of the mountain’s winegrowers.

Because Champagne is also about history: discover the Fort de la Pompelle
Just outside Reims and fifteen minutes from the campsite, the Fort de la Pompelle is full of emotion. Having played a key role in the First World War, it is now one of the few sites dedicated to the war. With impressive remains, a military museum and an incredible collection of helmets (yes, yes!), get ready for an immersive journey back in time. Along the way, discover the major stages in its history and immerse yourself in life in the trenches. A fun day out for all the family.
